Henry Smith Club Dinner 2026
Every year, members of the Henry Smith Club come together for an evening defined by good food, thoughtful conversation and a shared commitment to philanthropy. This year’s dinner, held at Gaucho Covent Garden in the heart of London’s West End, once again brought together supporters from across the Reigatian community, each contributing in their own way through time, skills and generosity to strengthen lives.
The Henry Smith Club, under the leadership of our President, Sir Peter Gershon CBE (RGS 1958–66), has now grown to 160 members and continues to underpin so much of the Foundation’s work at RGS, both within the School and across the local community.
Bringing together supporters from across the Reigatian community, the evening was a reminder that philanthropy at RGS is rooted in generous financial support and the impact it enables — strengthened by shared values, community and a long-term commitment to creating opportunity for young people.
A particularly poignant moment came during reflections shared by Jonny Hylton (RGS ’99), RGS Foundation Director, who spoke about the quiet but powerful role philanthropy plays in young people’s lives. Drawing on real experiences from the Foundation’s work, he reflected on how the belief and generosity of supporters can, at the right moment, provide stability, restore confidence and open new opportunities. His words underlined the importance of the Henry Smith Club’s collective commitment and long-term support.
Evenings like this serve as a powerful reminder that philanthropy is about far more than financial support alone. It is about time, care, connection and standing alongside young people when it matters most.
The 2026 Henry Smith Club Dinner was a celebration of generosity, shared purpose and lasting impact — reaffirming the extraordinary difference this community continues to make in Changing Lives, Building Futures and ensuring Reigate Grammar School can thrive for generations to come.
