What a fantastic turnout for our first Reigatian Hub Gathering of 2026 on Tuesday 24 February. More than 90 Reigatians from across our community came together at the Old Thameside Inn for an evening of conversation and collaboration.
The breadth of the community was on full display: current students, including Lower Sixth Foundation Ambassadors and Duke of Edinburgh volunteers; parents and staff, past and present; charity partners; and local business leaders. It is always heartening to witness the inclusivity of the global Reigatian network - and to be reminded that when Reigatians come together, good things happen.
There was warmth in every sense - not least thanks to the first hint of Spring in the air. For some, the evening was a welcome opportunity to reconnect with old friends; for others, it was their first Reigatian Hub event. What stood out was the generosity of a community united by its connection to RGS, ready to support one another - whether by helping students secure work experience, explore career pathways, or simply strengthen their sense of belonging within this dynamic and nurturing Reigatian family.
Once glasses were charged, the hum of conversation quickly filled the room. Tracey Thornton, RGS Foundation Executive, offered a warm welcome and three simple calls to action: register for the Reigatian Hub platform; if already registered, consider volunteering career support; and make three new connections during the evening. These small acts of service can have a powerful impact, enabling Reigatians to seek guidance, share expertise and open doors to new opportunities. Almost immediately, the community rose to the challenge. Tracey then thanked Wincent, our generous sponsor for the evening.
Wincent’s senior leader, Paul Howard (RGS 1990–1997), pursued a career in finance - including time at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley – and it was great to have Paul on hand to share his perspective on the future of finance and the digital assets market. Building on Tracey’s remarks, Paul reflected on how the rise of AI has sharpened the importance of the human advantage and of relationships built on trust - qualities deeply embedded within the Reigatian community.
Throughout the evening, Reigatians connected directly with Paul and with one another, leading to work experience placements for current students, internship discussions for undergraduates, and the strengthening of long-standing relationships that continue to support the work of the RGS Foundation. As the event drew to a close, the RGS Foundation team left a small group of friends – old and new – reminiscing and laughing together. An evening of affection, generosity and shared purpose is always time well spent.
