An unforgettable evening in New York City saw the global Reigate Grammar School community come together to celebrate 350 years of RGS and our Decade of Difference.
Our first-ever international Gala Dinner welcomed Headmaster Shaun Fenton OBE, alongside Reigatians and friends of the School from New York, San Francisco and beyond, as well as representatives from our family of schools in Turkey. It was a powerful reminder of the “invisible thread”, as Shaun often describes it, that connects generations of Reigatians across the world through shared values, lifelong friendships and a deep affection for the School.
Set against the magnificent Manhattan skyline at the bottom of Fifth Avenue ten floors up at the Kimmel Centre, the evening was a wonderful celebration of community, philanthropy and global connection. One of the standout moments of the night was Billy Elliston’s (RGS 2010-2017) extraordinary performance on Frank Sinatra’s piano — a truly unique experience that perfectly captured the magic of the occasion, his rendition of New York, New York was spine tingling. Guests also enjoyed a surprise celebration for James Reader (RGS 1987-1992) who recently had a landmark birthday, adding another special and personal moment to an already memorable evening.
We were also delighted to honour Andy Paul (RGS 1968-1975) in recognition of his exceptional support of RGS over many years, including his transformational support of the Changing Lives, Building Futures campaign through the new Andy Paul Sport and Activity Centre, and his unwavering commitment to social mobility within the local community.
A fabulous evening, wonderful company and a fitting celebration of the strength and spirit of the global Reigatian community.
