Our first Supporters’ Soirée took place on Tuesday 9 June, offering a special opportunity for us to say thank you to Reigatians for the support they give and the difference they make.
Originally planned as a summer soirée in the Headmaster’s garden at 1 Chart Lane, inclement weather led to a change of venue to the Peter Masefield Hall. Although the sun returned for the evening itself, a brief rain shower mid-event confirmed the decision to move indoors, ensuring guests remained comfortably together throughout.
We were delighted to welcome so many supporters from across the Reigatian community. The evening brought together friends old and new in an atmosphere defined by warmth, generosity and shared purpose. Conversation flowed easily throughout, reflecting the strength of the connections that underpin the Reigatian network.
Our catering team were ably on hand throughout the evening, serving a selection of drinks and delicious food. Guests enjoyed a menu of fresh summer salads, while gin from the Veteran Gin company proved a popular addition to the refreshments on offer.
Adding to the atmosphere, musicians Grace W and Arianna E, accompanied by Mr Hare on keyboard, provided a delightful musical backdrop to the evening. Their performances created a warm and welcoming ambience that complemented the spirit of the occasion perfectly.
Headmaster Shaun Fenton and RGS Foundation Director Jonny Hylton (RGS 1992–1999) addressed guests briefly to express their sincere thanks for the continued support of Reigatians and to highlight the impact it enables. Jonny also provided an update on the Changing Lives, Building Futures campaign, outlining the many ways in which Reigatians contribute - from bursary support and capital development projects to enrichment opportunities, mentoring, careers guidance and work experience. These forms of support help to create meaningful opportunities for pupils and strengthen connections across the global Reigatian community.
RGS continues to nurture a strong philanthropic ethos, with pupils actively engaged in charitable initiatives, volunteering through the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, participating in a broad and ambitious careers programme and much more. This culture extends throughout the wider Reigatian community, creating lasting value both locally and beyond.
As we continue our Decade of Difference, we look forward to building on this momentum together - unlocking further opportunity and generating even greater impact together. Thank you.
