Golf Day Success Despite the Weather
While the weather certainly didn't play ball, with persistent rain and chilly conditions throughout the day, it did little to dampen the spirits of everyone who took part in this year's golf event.
Players arrived prepared for the elements and embraced the challenge, enjoying a fantastic day of golf, camaraderie, and plenty of laughs along the way. The ever-popular mulligans proved invaluable for many, helping rescue a few wayward shots and keeping scorecards respectable.
One of the standout features of the day was the "silly string" challenge, which generated plenty of entertainment. Some teams became so enthusiastic in their efforts to improve their positions that they practically unravelled an entire ball of string from the box! The strategic use—or misuse—of string certainly sparked plenty of discussion and added an extra layer of fun to the competition.
Despite the cold and wet conditions, the positive atmosphere never wavered. It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves, supporting one another, and making the most of the day.
A huge thank you to all participants, sponsors, and organisers for helping make the event such a success. The weather may not have been on our side, but the good humour, friendly competition, and shared enjoyment ensured it was a memorable day for all involved.
Congratulations to our team winners of the day; Al Gregson (former parent), Flo Coyle (former parent), Colin Crighton (former parent) and Ian Randall (former parent) as well as Mike Hayes (RGS friend) who got Nearest the Pin and Ben Rutland (RGS staff) who won Longest Drive of the day - both sponsored kindly by new business venture 'Mulligans' formed by former student Haydn Culverwell (RGS 2009-2016) and business partner Harry Stoyle. Giving golf equipment a new lease of life and a new home in their 'Vinted for golf' concept.
A huge thank you to Barry Devine (RGS 1983-1990) for once again sponsoring our annual golf day.
