On Monday the 23rd of September Reigatians gathered together for the annual Reigatian Hub golf day at the stunning Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club on the outskirts of East Grinstead.

Despite last minute tracking of every weather app available, the day went ahead and golfers came prepared in all sorts of wet weather gear to tackle the rain.

The day brought together a variety of Reigatians ranging local companies, former pupils, governors, friends and colleagues at one of the top 50 golf courses in the country. Raising money for the new Changing Lives, Building Futures campaign with over £5500 raised in our special 350 anniversary year.

We were delighted to have the sponsorship from former pupil Fin McCartney (RGS ’18) owner and proprietor of Dropkick Brewery in Dorking, who ensured that all attendees were well refreshed throughout the course of the day. It was of personal great delight that Jake Roberts, one of his playing partners, took home the longest drive on the challenging 12th hole on the Old Course.

The classic Thunderball challenge sparked the perennial fear amongst the teams, but it was Jimmy Espin, Tyrone Long, Oli Jones (RGS '97) and Ryan Arde (Headmaster - Micklefield) who held their nerve to take the trophy home with an impressive 37 points, far ahead of anyone else.

The main competition trophy was taken by Alan McCormack (RGS '90) and his team who have played in every single RGS golf day at Royal Ashdown Forest GC since its inception over 10 years ago. He did win one of the earliest golf days so it was about time that they took the trophy home once again! They pipped the second placed team to the trophy by one point!

Attendees also enjoyed the ‘Hit it and Win it’ putting challenge on their return to the clubhouse when the sunshine made a thankful appearance.

Thank you for all those who supported and if you would like to book your place for our next golf day at Reigate Hill on 12 June 2025 then you can do so by reserving your place HERE
