We were delighted to welcome members of the 1675 Society to a very special afternoon tea in the Headmaster’s Study, hosted by RGS Foundation Director, Jonny Hylton (RGS 1992-1999), and Foundation Executive, Tracey Thornton.

This annual event is our opportunity to thank and celebrate those who have pledged a gift to RGS in their Will -individuals whose legacy will help shape the future of the school for generations to come. It was a pleasure to gather both new and long-standing members of the Society, together, our legacy pledgers play a vital role in securing the future of RGS just as Henry Smith did 350 years ago in 1675.

Earlier in the day, a commemorative, stone plaque was unveiled on the main school building, marking the 350th anniversary of RGS and it was lovely to see the reaction of our 1675 Society members who commented on the significance of adding a permanent reminder of this milestone to the school’s historic fabric.

The afternoon continued with a delicious and generously served afternoon tea - our thanks to Chartwells Independent for their excellent catering and service. The Headmaster’s Study made for a fitting and nostalgic venue, particularly for our former students, who enjoyed sharing stories of yester-year.

Jonny and Tracey shared highlights from our 350 anniversary celebrations so far, as well as exciting developments still to come. Guests also heard about future plans for the Andy Paul Sports and Activity Centre -an ambitious and transformational project for RGS and its students.

As always, the most valuable part of the afternoon was the conversation. We invited guests to share their thoughts on how we can continue to evolve our legacy campaign and recognise legacy donors in ways that are personal, lasting, and meaningful. Their insights, drawn from experiences as former pupils, parents, and staff, were thoughtful and inspiring - a true reflection of the diverse and dedicated Reigatian community.

We are incredibly grateful to every member of the 1675 Society, both near and far. Your commitment to RGS ensures that future generations will continue to benefit from an exceptional education in a caring and connected community.

Thank you for committing a lasting legacy.
