On a sunny, spring evening in London, Reigatians from around the world gathered at the iconic De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms to celebrate a momentous milestone in our school’s proud history – 350 years of Reigate Grammar School. The RGS 350 Gala Ball brought together former students, parents, staff and friends for an unforgettable night of laughter, reflection and community.

From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was electric, a true testament to the strength and vibrancy of the global Reigatian community. We are deeply grateful to our generous sponsors whose support made the evening possible: Wanderlux, our Reception Sponsor; Stone, our wine sponsor; Aerotron, our Gold Sponsor; and Corsair, our Platinum Sponsor. Your support of RGS and its future is truly appreciated.

The evening was masterfully hosted by the brilliant David Walliams (RGS 1981–1989), who lit up the room with his trademark wit and self-deprecating humour. David had the audience in fits of laughter while seamlessly weaving in nostalgic moments that reflected his own fond memories of RGS.

Among the evening’s highlights was when David introduced Andy Paul (RGS 1968–1975), CEO of Corsair and the lead patron behind the future Andy Paul Sports and Activity Centre. Andy spoke candidly about how RGS shaped his path to success and how he hopes to pass that opportunity on to future generations.

Chair of Governors, Mark Elsey (RGS 1974-1978)  touched on key chapters of RGS’s illustrious history and celebrated the strength of our connected community. Mark then had the honour of presenting the Headmaster, Shaun Fenton, with an award recognising his outstanding leadership, in raising academic standards, expanding opportunity and a nurturing a philanthropic culture throughout the Reigatian community.

David Walliams (RGS '89) conducted a light-hearted Q&A with Shaun - mirroring the affection with which Shaun is held. Shaun underscored that the heart of RGS will always be its students, for their individual and collective contributions, the kindness they show and their willingness to seize opportunity.

The energy then shifted into high-gear, as celebrity auctioneer Jonny Gould took the stage. With his trademark banter and bold persuasion tactics, Jonny ignited a fierce and fun bidding war over eight incredible live auction lots, to accompany the silent auction. The first lot was a once-in-a-lifetime afternoon tea at David Walliams’ London home. Jonny's outstanding efforts, combined with the silent auction and pledges, raised nearly £90,000 in support of the Changing Lives, Building Futures campaign.

We are immensely grateful to everyone who donated auction items, those who attended and all Reigatians who placed bids both at home and from afar. Thank you for supporting this milestone event.

Following the high-octane live auction, the night concluded on a high with a packed dance floor led by the outstanding Coverstory. The music carried us through to 1am with the dance floor pounding and a reaffirmation of the strength of friendship throughout the community - a perfect ending to a spectacular celebration.

To all Reigatians – thank you for your love, generosity, and unwavering support. Here's to the past 350 years – and the many more to come.
