Welcome back Class of 2021

The Graduation Brunch is one of our favourite events. It falls at the end of the summer when the sun is still warm enough to make a difference and reunites a year group that passed through the doors of RGS only 4 years prior. This time lapse is just long enough to make you feel life happened - adventures took place, exams were sat, countries were discovered, studies undertaken. You may have moved out of home and begun the journey of life on your own two feet or have taken that first step into a professional environment. However, 4 years is also just short enough that it feels like only yesterday you were walking through those doors to collect your final exam results before that life chapter commenced.

The turn out for this event is always incredible. We never fail to fill the room and are thrilled when we get a few last minute arrivals, indicating that word got around and they didn't want to miss out.

It's a brilliant opportunity for us to chat with our former students and find out where their next adventures take them. We have a couple of pilots in the making, trainee solicitors and those embarking on a medical career. Others have pressed paused now that their studies are over and are planning their trip around the globe. For some, the studies still have some time to go.

"Lovely to see so many of the year group and they were all so positive about their time at RGS."

Nick Newman, Economics Teacher

We had several teachers join us for the festivities and many couldn't believe how fast 4 years have passed. 2021 was the back end of the Covid pandemic and many were readjusting to a 'new normal', these students recall not being able to sit exams but had the joy of being able to collect their A level results in person. Life took on a different meaning, one that focused on time and wellbeing. It allowed us to sit back and review what was important and what was less so. It allowed us to introduce a better work-life balance. It carved out the world we know today.

Our key take away message was to stay in touch and to join the Reigatian Hub. It can open doors to opportunity, by reaching out through this network, you could meet an old friend or find your new career path. Jack Grant, Class of 2021 attendee, is a testament to this butterfly effect. Jack reached out to us to ask if we had a connection at a particular company - we did - a connection was made, an interview took place and Jack is now three months into his new role.

"After connecting with a recently retired Reigatian through the Reigatian community, I received invaluable advice and guidance ahead of my interviews, which played a key role in securing a position at his previous firm. It really reinforced how powerful the Reigatian network can be - not only in offering support and mentorship, but also in fostering a strong sense of connection. Staying involved with the Reigatian community after leaving RGS is a fantastic way to stay connected, give back, and be part of a network of alumni who genuinely want to see each other succeed. I hope that one day I’ll be able to offer the same guidance to a fellow Reigatian."

Jack Grant (RGS 2014-2021)
